I have an interesting training dilemma.  Upon a little course investigation I’ve learned that the Ironman Wales run is hilly. I mean, really, duh…its Wales jackass.  But that’s not the dilemma.  The dilemma part comes when I take into consideration that where I live now is totally flat, like, pancake flat.  No longer is it [...]

Approximately one month ago – I know, I’ve been a busy boy – I was invited to participate in a special Masters Swim Clinic hosted by the good folks at the new TrySport Niagara store.  ‘TrySport Niagara’ is run by local professional triathlete Wolfgang Guembel and his equally athletic better half, Barb Szybka.  I’m sure [...]

This was simply too good to resist posting; Rick Mercer visits the Olympic training facility in Victoria, BC and talks with future Canadian Olympic hopefuls.  Funnily enough, watching Rick doing his flip-turns is not unlike my own pathetic learning curve in this regards.  Oh, and I really need to get me one of those harness [...]

The Bike Thief

This post has neither anything to do, or even in common with the sport of triathlon apart from the fact that it involves bikes…specifically, stealing bikes. God knows what I’d ever do if either Daisy or Lucille should ever be forcefully or illicitly removed from my life; I’d probably crawl into a badger hole and [...]

They say that “the greatest strength of a person is his ability to laugh at himself”.  Well then, that must make me the next Alexander Craig, baby, because I’m guilty at having said at least 95% of this crap at some point or other.  I’m surprised somebody hasn’t drop-kicked me square in the sack yet. [...]

Here’s an ‘oldie but a goodie’  for sure, but where it does crack me up completely it’s actually a little realistic at the same time.  And, yes, those mass swim starts can often feel like this at times; high school swim meet, meets real-life Kumate…all rolled into one. Enjoy.

Okay, this is some seriously funny shit.  Truly. I’ve often wondered how I must appear to others while I’m out running; somewhere between a drunken transvestite running for the bus and a retarded orangutan I bet.  I mean, I’ve seen some extremely unflattering photos of myself from races and triathlons and they’re seldom, well, pretty.  [...]

You may remember way back when, I once complained of suffering from a bad case of “Swimmers Sinusitis” after spending so much time swimming in chlorinated water at my local YMCA pool.  But, largely thanks to a few regular visitors to this blogsite, I stumbled onto the medicinal phenomenon known as the “Neti Pot”.  Sanskrit [...]

So now that training has resumed, well, the weights and plyometrics part anyway, the real calorie burning can begin.  So it’s time to bring on the healthy recipes and I vow to load you up with many more of them than I did last year…promise! This recipe for ‘Kale Waldorf Salad’ was forwarded to me [...]
