I decided to celebrate May 4th in a most typical fashion:  by running.  Hey, what else do I ever do on holidays?

Now, I realize that it’s not really an officially recognized holiday, per se, but, hey, I like making playlists and this is as good an excuse as any.  May 4th (“May the Fourth Be With You” – get it?) is, like, the Nerd Christmas or something and, as such, I decided to celebrate by dedicating my morning’s run playlist to it specifically like I did on Christmas.  Actually, it was more like a “Revenge of the Fifth”  holiday playlist I suppose, but I digress.  So for any other official Star Wars geeks out there, or even if you’re just like me and appreciate any dumbass reason to dedicate an entire iPod playlist to something stupid in general, here is a great ‘space-themed’ list of tracks for consideration:

  1. Cantina Band – John Williams
  2. Space Oddity – David Bowie
  3. Major Tom (Coming Home) – Peter Schilling
  4. Life on Mars? – David Bowie
  5. Rocket Man – William Shatner (Elton John cover)
  6. Walking on the Moon – The Police
  7. Satellite of Love – U2 (Lou Reed cover)
  8. 2000 Light Years From Home – Les Claypool & Fearless Flying Frog Brigade (Rolling Stones cover)
  9. Ladies & Gentlemen We Are Now Floating In Space – Spiritualized
  10. Subterranean Homesick Alien – Radiohead
  11. Planet Claire – B-52’s
  12. Astronomy Domine – Pink Floyd
  13. Across the Universe – The Beatles
  14. 2001: A Space Odyssey – Alex North

I’m going to down this delicious fucker in “less than 12 parsecs…”
